Call for the Emerging Scholar Keynote

To provide more opportunities for Early Career Researchers, the 2025 World Conference on Natural Resource Modeling in Kathmandu, Nepal (June 9-12, 2025) will feature a new keynote address by an emerging scholar in natural resource modeling. To be considered for this keynote, candidates must:

Submit an Application: Email a (1) proposed talk title, (2) no more than one-page, single-spaced abstract, and (3) CV.

The CV should be no more than two pages and include:
– Education, training, and employment background
– Publication Summary Data: this is a short paragraph explaining the significance and context of your publication record. You may include Clarivate impact factors, journal rankings, explanations of field specific conventions (e.g. author order), media coverage, or other measures of significance/impact. Natural resource modelling is a diverse cross-disciplinary field – this paragraph allows the selection committee to more fairly assess your publication track record.
– List of your recent peer-reviewed publications. This includes peer-reviewed journal articles and full papers in peer-reviewed conference proceedings. If including conference proceedings, be sure to explain the significance of these outlets in your publication summary.
– Significant achievements (e.g., awards, grants). If you have ever won or received an honourable mention for a talk at a conference, include this. Also include invited talks, and, if available, any links to videos of previous talks.

Meet Eligibility Requirements: At the time of the conference, applicants must have a maximum of seven years of full-time equivalent academic or research experience post-Ph.D. If you’ve had career interruptions, include a brief statement at the top of your CV. For example, for one year of parental leave, you must have received your Ph.D. after June 8, 2017. Without interruptions, you must have received your Ph.D. after June 8, 2018.

The selected speaker will receive a 45-minute keynote slot and a US$500 travel award. The winning candidate will be chosen based on their research track record relative to opportunity and their potential to give a compelling talk. We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented backgrounds.
