We are pleased to inform you of a Special Session on Modeling Natural Resources to be held at the 2025 Joint Mathematics Meeting in Seattle, WA. We invite you to consider submitting an abstract for a 20-minute talk. We also ask that you forward this invitation to any of your colleagues (including graduate students) who might be interested in joining us. Please join us, even if you don’t consider yourself primarily a mathematician! We want an interdisciplinary session!
The conference is in Seattle, WA from Wednesday through Saturday, January 8-11, 2025 at the Seattle Convention Center. Complete information is available at jointmathematicsmeetings.org.
Our session will be held on Wednesday, January 8 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
We encourage you to submit your abstract as soon as possible for full consideration Abstracts must be submitted electronically through the AMS portal at https://meetings.ams.org/math/jmm2025/cfp.cgi on or before the firm deadline of September 10, 2024. We will likely accept some submissions well ahead of the deadline, so early submission is important! It will be helpful to alert us once you’ve submitted your abstract by sending a reply to this email.
Here is the description of the special session:
SS82A: AMS Special Session on Modeling Natural Resources
This session addresses mathematical modeling of natural resources including soil, air, water, fisheries, wildlife, and forestry systems, as well as threatened and endangered species, ecological implications of climate change, community dynamics, ecological invasions and range limits, and disease vectors. Mathematical modeling encompasses a wide range of research areas and involves data science and artificial intelligence. MSC’s include 34, 35, 37, 39, 49, 62, 65, 90, 91, and 92.
