Rollie Lamberson awards
The Rollie Lamberson Award celebrates the contribution of Professor Rollie Lamberson to the field of natural resource modeling and the growth of the Resource Modeling Association by recognizing each year the most outstanding paper in natural resource modeling in the previous two years.
The Lamberson Medal is awarded to the best paper published in Natural Resource Modeling, selected for exemplifying the society’s and journal’s core mission: advancing the development and analysis of mathematical models to inform resource management and policy. Winning papers will reflect the journal’s interdisciplinary scope, drawing from fields such as forestry, fisheries, sustainability, economics, agriculture, water management, environmental science, and ecology, and contribute to the sustainable use of natural resources in the face of human and environmental pressures.
Criteria
The awarded paper will rate highly in the following attributes:
- Reach and Generality: The methods or results should be relevant to the broad natural resource modeling community
- Impact: Potential to inform future research, improve practice, or influence policy
- Exposition: Clarity and excellence of the composition
- Originality: Novelty of the ideas, methods, or applications

- At least one author must have participated in RMA activities within the last five years. Activities include (but are not limited to),
- presenting or attending a World Conference on Natural Resource Modelling (WCNRM), or RMA special session at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, or
- submitting at least one other manuscript to the Journal Natural Resource Modeling, or
- serving as an editor of a special issue for the Journal Natural Resource Modeling
- The RMA President, members of the Awards Committee, and anyone else involved in the award process will not be eligible.
Nomination Process
To nominate a paper, email the following to the Editor-in-Chief, John Hearne (hearnemaths@gmail.com) with the subject “Lamberson Medal Nomination”:
