There is a vacancy for a postdoctoral fellow position at the Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen / Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research within global and regional climate variability. The postdoctoral fellow position is for a period of 4 years starting fall 2016. I would greatly appreciated if you could forward this information and also inform potential candidates at your department about this opportunity.
About the project/work tasks:
The postdoc project will consist of two parts; detection and attribution of climate change, and teleconnection from tropical Pacific to high latitudes. Both observations and archived climate model output will be used. The work will focus on:
- Assessing the relationship between global temperature change and natural and forced climate drivers
- Identifying the roles of ocean heat uptake and storage in evolution of global mean temperatures
- Studying the relationship between high latitude climatic trends and sea surface state in the tropical Pacific
- Performing sensitivity experiments with sea surface temperature perturbations in the tropical Pacific
