(Post-Doctoral) Research Fellow in Lake Remote Sensing and Modelling, University of Waikato, New Zealand

Environmental Research Institute Faculty of Science and Engineering (Fixed-term for two years)

The Environmental Research Institute at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand, is seeking a (Post-doctoral) Research Fellow who is experienced in application of models to aquatic systems and who can lead a team involved in research into lake water quality. The successful person will be expected to manage a number of model applications to lakes in the Waikato region of New Zealand and to further our expertise in satellite- and drone-based remote sensing through ground truthing and algorithm development. Our research programme includes study sites in different New Zealand lakes, including lakes in the Rotorua region and in the Waikato basin.

You will have a Ph.D. in a relevant area of water research including familiarity with the application of models for water quality prediction. Related experience could include data analysis techniques, aquatic field or lab studies, computer programming or remote sensing. Familiarity with coupled hydrodynamic-ecological models would be valuable.

Established ability to carry out applied research relevant to needs of end users, e.g. regional councils, iwi, is essential.
